1. 事前に共有していただきたい5つのもの
- 議題とスケジュール：会議、工場見学、会食の順番と所要時間。
- 参加者と役職：誰が説明し、誰が判断するのか。
- 製品名・型番・略語の一覧：社内で使っている呼び方も含めて。
- 図面・仕様書・プレゼン資料：共有できる範囲で構いません。
- 取り扱い条件：秘密保持契約（NDA）、輸出管理の対象かどうか。
2. 用語集は「社内の呼び方」まで
同じ部品でも、業界の標準名称と社内の呼び方が違うことはよくあります。プローブ、コンタクト、めっき、検査治具、歩留まり。事前に対訳表をつくり、当日の会議中も更新していきます。分からない言葉は推測せず、その場で確認するのが原則です。
3. 工場見学は「場所」で準備が変わる
騒音の大きいライン、保護具の着用、クリーンルームの入室条件、撮影の可否。歩きながらの説明では、短く区切って逐次で訳すのが基本です。参加者が多い場合は、ガイド用の音声機器の手配もご相談ください。
4. 会議・見学・会食を同じ通訳者で
複数日の来日では、技術会議から工場見学、夕食の席まで同じ通訳者が担当すると、用語だけでなく人間関係や話の流れも引き継げます。会食でのくだけた会話は、信頼関係をつくる大切な時間です。
5. 当日の役割分担

The better product names, process terms, drawings and site safety rules are prepared in advance, the more accurate and faster the conversation on the day. Here is what recent technical assignments have taught us.
1. Five things to share in advance
- Agenda and schedule: the order and length of meetings, the factory tour and dinner.
- Participants and roles: who explains and who decides.
- Product names, part numbers and abbreviations, including in-house names.
- Drawings, specifications and slides, as far as they can be shared.
- Handling conditions: NDAs and whether export control applies.
2. Glossaries down to the in-house names
The same part often has an industry name and a different in-house name: probe, contact, plating, test fixture, yield. We build a bilingual glossary beforehand and keep updating it during the meetings. Unclear terms are checked on the spot, never guessed.
3. Factory tours depend on the site
Noisy lines, protective equipment, clean-room entry rules, photography rules. While walking, we interpret consecutively in short segments. For larger groups, ask us about tour-guide audio equipment.
4. The same interpreter for meetings, the tour and dinner
On multi-day visits, keeping one interpreter from the technical meetings through the factory tour to dinner carries over not only terminology but relationships and context. Informal conversation at dinner is where trust is built.
5. Who is responsible for what
The interpreter conveys words and intent accurately. They are not responsible for technical judgement, quality guarantees or safety instructions; safety briefings and machine operation stay with qualified staff.
